ELD Protests- Status Update

October 3 through October 8, some owner-operator drivers and affiliated groups are protesting ELD implementation. Some drivers have converged in Washington, D.C. to rally and meet with Members of Congress while others have opted to either shut down their trucks locally or protest at port terminals. These events have been called “Operation Black and Blue” or “ELD or Me” in news reports and social media.

Oakland: Yes, there was a minor protest this Oct. 3 in the morning (about a dozen drivers), however they were not impeding others from entering or exiting the terminal. This has not caused any delays or congestion. We are monitoring and will let you know if anything changes.

NW Seaport Alliance: Not aware of any such activity here today.

Port of Long Beach: I just checked with our Operations team who checked with Harbor Patrol. They are not reporting any picketing activities at this time down at the terminals.I also checked with our trucking team. They also have not heard any picketing from truckers. If I hear anything, I’ll be sure to let you know immediately.
